Day 3-Monday

Well, today is the start of our first full day here in Gleneden Beach. Bob woke up, looked out the window and said, guess what? It is raining, wind blowing, looks cold. Kind of day where you just want to stay in bed, but, can't spend the whole vacation inside so it was up and at 'em, breakfast then the decision of what to do on the rainy, windy day.
We decided to go to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It is south of where we are, in the town of Newport. I have to describe the rain here as mostly mist. It is kind of like when you go through the car wash, when you get the spot free rinse, or when you go to the fair and they have the mister to cool you down, that is what the rain is like. The aquarium was fun, lots of tanks with different kinds of underwater life. We saw starfish, sea horses, jelly fish, fish that look like sea weed and swim vertical so they look just like a plant. There were octopus, sting rays, sea cucumbers, sharks, you name it, it was probable there. Bob got some good pictures that I will post. Towards the end there are 3 tunnels that you walk through, the sea life swims all around you. On the way we stopped at a pull out and got some really cool pictures of some of the light houses, you could even see the light. Also, as we were leaving, a family came in, Bob asked me if I knew who the man way, I said he looked familiar but couldn't place him. It was Ken Jennings of Jeopardy fame!
That afternoon, we went into Lincoln City to the glass blower. We were the only ones there a first, just standing on the sidewalk watching, the business is like a big garage with the door open. When we first got there one of the glass glowers was making a glass starfish, he explained what he was doing. When he was done with that, he showed us how he makes a bear from the raw melted glass, adding color, it was pretty neat to see it take shape. When he was done with that, he started making a sea shell. By that time a crowd had gathered, so me made our exit.
Did dinner at the Dairy Queen, then headed back to the condo. After chillin' out for a bit, it was down to the beach, even with the rainy mist and the wind.
Nice day, just hope the weather clears up soon.

Nice pictures, I actually decided to use the one of the red/white lighthouse as my desktop.
